Zane Solar Pool Heating celebrates its 50th anniversary on World Sunshine Day

Zane Solar Pool Heating celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, marking a significant milestone in providing solar pool heating solutions to the region.

Its celebration symbolically began on World Sun Day, May 3.

Starting in 1974, selling its Gulfstream system in Sydney with a handful of installers, the company now has a nationwide dealer network of 36 solar specialists installing and servicing hundreds of Zane solar pool heating systems each year.

Zane’s solar and heating manager, Adam Shelley, says that long before the terms “carbon footprint” and “eco-friendly” became commonplace, Zane used natural solar energy so that homeowners could extend their swimming season without harming their environment.

Pioneering the solar energy movement during the 1970s energy crisis, Zane initially focused on solar pool heating, a novel concept at the time, supported by Waterco’s early commitment to sustainability.

“It took Zane just four years to achieve international recognition when he won an Australian design award in 1978,” says Shelley. “The following year he was selected as a finalist for the prestigious Prince Phillip Design Award.”

Starting in 1994, World Sun Day aims to draw attention to renewable energy sources and recalls the enormous potential of solar energy in building a more environmentally friendly and sustainable future for future generations.
