Your Galaxy phone probably has Galaxy AI now

In mid-April, Samsung announced that it would launch soon Galactic artificial intelligence update (aka One UI 6.1) to a good list of additional devices. Well, today is the day when Samsung announces that the rollout has officially started.

Devices receiving this update include the Galaxy S22, S22+, S22 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Fold 4, and Galaxy Tab S8 series. This is another healthy list of phones (and tablets) for which Samsung shows good support, considering the fact that the Galaxy S24 (and Galaxy AI) were only launched a few months ago. This is the high-level software support we see in millions of phones.

Below are some of the new AI toys that owners will be able to play with.

Galaxy AI feature overview

  • Live translation: It enables real-time voice and text translation during phone calls, making travel bookings and multilingual conversations easier.
  • Generative editing: A powerful photo editing tool that allows you to customize your photos – from resizing to filling the background when you remove an object.
  • Chat Assistant: Offers context-sensitive suggestions and translations to refine your conversational tone in a variety of contexts.
  • Transcription assistant: It uses artificial intelligence and speech-to-text technology to transcribe, summarize and translate voice recordings.
  • Google search circle: It allows users to learn more about almost anything with a quick gesture and without having to switch apps.

Older devices: Samsung is also looking for older devices. In its blog post, Samsung states that “Additionally, Galaxy S21, Z Flip 3, and Z Fold 3 users will have access to Circle to Search with Google and Chat Assist with the latest update.”

Happy days, Samsung owners.
