Google’s new “Find My” network of devices is useful, but it poses a risk of harassment

If you have an Android phone or tablet, Google will soon send you an email (if it hasn’t already) letting you know that your device will automatically and anonymously transmit its location to compatible gadgets of strangers nearby. It is intended to help find lost devices.

Apple has been doing this for several years with iPhones, Macs, Apple Watches, and more devices. This is how AirTags work – by pinging all nearby Apple devices to triangulate your location.
