TxDOT warns of tire flattening devices on I-20 in Van Zandt County

VAN ZANDT COUNTY (KLTV) – Hazardous devices were found on I-20 in Van Zandt County, according to TxDOT.

A TxDOT statement said rebar anchors were discovered as recently as Monday near westbound miles 533 and 518, 520, 528 and 529.

They said that, as defined by the U.S. Department of Defense, anchors are “four-pronged, thick, steel piercing spikes that can be thrown or connected together to cause immediate, irreversible and catastrophic failure of pneumatic tires.”
