Flipkart and Bajaj Auto partners for eco-friendly deliveries using eco-friendly machines

Together, they aim to accelerate the integration of electric vehicles (EVs) with Flipkart’s final delivery services. According to the official announcement, this partnership represents a noteworthy development towards a more environmentally sustainable future for the Indian online retail industry.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on May 10 by Bajaj Auto and Flipkart spokespersons Samardeep Subandh, President (Intracity Business Unit, Bajaj Auto Ltd) and Prabhu Balasrinivasan, Vice President, Commercial, Flipkart Group, Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. supply chain, customer service and re-commerce at Flipkart Group lays the foundation for a long-term business partnership between Bajaj Auto and Flipkart.

The initial agreement, though not legally binding, covers the supply of at least 1,000 state-of-the-art electric cargo three-wheelers to Flipkart, opening up opportunities for future collaboration and potential fleet expansion. Leveraging Bajaj’s premium electric vehicle technology will enable Flipkart to make its end-delivery services more efficient and eco-friendly. Through this partnership, both Bajaj Auto and Flipkart are pioneers in implementing a sustainable approach in India’s dynamic e-commerce logistics sector.

Talking about the MoU with Flipkart, Samardeep Subandh, spokesperson, Bajaj Auto Ltd., said, “With the rapid growth of e-commerce, the impact of last-mile logistics will increase significantly in India. Promoting sustainability in last-mile logistics has been a key agenda for Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace. Bajaj Auto, the global leader in 3-wheelers, and Flipkart will now join hands to drive the transition to a fully sustainable last-mile fleet for Flipkart. Under this partnership, Bajaj Auto will deliver over 1,000 electric trucks in two years. Bajaj Cargo ETEC products will deliver best-in-class performance and reliability with innovative design and features that are rapidly gaining acceptance in the market.
